Continental Currency Exchange is participating in the Sudbury Relay for Life! The event takes place at Laurentian University’s athletic field and begins at 6:00PM on June 15th, ending at midnight. Continental volunteers will be accepting donations at the wickets and walking the track in support of cancer victims and survivors. Fighting Cancer Across Canada
The Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is a fundraising event where Canadians across the country join together to fight against cancer, stand in solidarity with survivors, as well as honour and remember victims of cancer. The event starts with survivors lighting candles and placing them in bags along the side of the track. In previous years, the track has been lined with 3000 luminaries! The survivors do the first lap around the track and then everyone else joins them.
On average, 565 Canadians are diagnosed and 221 Canadians die from cancer every day. Whether you’re personally diagnosed or not, cancer impacts everyone – chances are you or your loved one will be diagnosed. The money raised for Relay for Life allows the Canadian Cancer Society to do research, provide transportation to treatment for people who need it, engage in prevention efforts like the flavoured tobacco ban and the Smoker’s Helpline, raise awareness for early detection, provide information and resources to survivors and the public, and much more!

Aside from the monetary fundraising, the event itself is incredibly informative and emotional. Although participants might have different squads, we’re all on the same cancer-fighting team.
