Purpose

The objective is to provide clients with a range of services and products to meet their financial needs. In addition to processing counter transactions, the Branch Teller responds to telephone inquiries, opens new accounts, identifies client needs, recommends suitable products, and resolves client problems. The teller is the face of the company, and is incredibly important in developing lasting relationships between Continental and our clients.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

  • Provide prompt, courteous service to clients in person and by phone, answering questions and processing deposits, withdrawals, account transfers, bill payments and remittances
  • Handle certified cheques and money orders, wire transfers, cheque ordering, and replacement cards
  • Process new and renewed term deposits
  • Cross-sell other financial products and make referrals as appropriate
  • Support marketing campaigns
  • Process changes of address, other account amendments and account closings
  • Respond to mail and e-mail inquiries
  • Support social media initiatives
  • Copy deposited cheques and prepare courier bag
  • Assist with opening and closing the branch
  • Ensure that supplies and marketing materials are replenished and up-to-date

Job Type 

Part Time: 15 – 30 hours per week

Qualifications and Skills

  • Customer service experience, preferably in a Canadian financial institution
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with numerical calculations
  • Computer literacy
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Dedicated, high-energy individual with a passion for service
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Community involvement and networking skills
  • High school graduate (university or college degree preferred but not required)

Required experience:

  • Retail/Sales: 1 year
