There’s so much to do in Toronto, especially over May long weekend. Kick off summer this May 2-4 (aka Victoria Day weekend) with our guide to the best city festivities.
From Thursday, May 16th to Sunday, May 19th, stop by Yonge and Dundas Square for amazing ribs, funnel cakes, food trucks, craft beer, drinks, and other treats. Admission is free, and there will be live music, outdoor games, and lots of excitement to keep you busy all weekend.
Stop by Fort York Garrison Common on Saturday, May 18th or Sunday, May 19th (or both) to taste lots of great beer, food, live music, and festivities all surrounding your favourite beverage. Tickets are around $35 and include a commemorative beer mug!
It is estimated that about 70% of the cherry blossoms will be open by Victoria Day weekend. Bring your camera and go for a walk amongst the Sakura flowers in High Park. For the first time, the Cherry Blossoms will be car-free – so it’s even more pedestrian friendly this year.
For many, the best part of spring and summer is the start of the concert and festival season. Here are just a few shows you can catch this weekend:
- Alessia Cara at the Centre for Performing Arts on Friday, May 17th
- Bring Me The Horizon at Echo Beach Friday, May 17th
- Electric Island season opener Sunday, May 19th
- Armin Van Buuren at Cabana Pool Bar Monday, May 20th
- Snoop Dogg at REBEL Monday, May 20th
- The Strokes at Budweiser Stage Monday, May 20th
Located at Front and Bathurst, the formerly vacant plot has been filled with shipping containers turned into dozens of tiny stores and vendors. From clothing and fashion to food and beverage, to services and experiences, there’s something for everyone. Grab a beer at the Belgian Moon Brewery, check out the Endy Lounge, or grab some food and a spot on the grass and enjoy the market vibes.
Root, root, root for the home team as the Blue Jays take on the Boston Red Sox at the Rogers Centre on Monday, May 20th at 1:07 PM.
Whether you’re with your friends, family, or a date, there’s no better way to end the long weekend than by watching some spectacular fireworks. Stop by Ashbridge Bay Park on the evening of Monday, May 20th for a great firework show (fireworks start at 9:45 PM, so arrive early to find a spot!)
Happy Victoria Day!
