Note: The volleyball tournament raised a staggering $7700! Thanks to everyone who donated and participated.

This Saturday June 24th, the Rotaract Club of Barrie is hosting their 6th annual charity volleyball tournament!  It’ll be located at Sand Zone, 7513 Yonge Street near the Innisfil YMCA, just a short drive from Barrie. 16 teams of 6 will compete in the tournament. Participants can register as individuals or as part of a team at a cost of $40 per person, which goes towards the Accomplish Today Fund for Sport.

In case you work up an appetite, the Innisfil Ribfest is going on right next-door! Ribfest-goers and community members are invited, and encouraged, to come out and support a great cause. Regardless of what your plans may be, one thing is for certain… the Barrie area is certainly in for a fun filled Saturday!

Accomplish Today

Accomplish Today, like Rotaract, is a local charity.  It aims to raise money for disabled youth to participate in sport camps and enjoy the active lifestyle, leadership and teambuilding benefits that sports provide.  Through sport, children are able to connect with themselves, their peers, and their communities in ways that many disabled youth are unable to without programs like Accomplish Today.  The founder of Accomplish Today (Graeme Murray) was raised in Gravenhurst – one of Barrie’s neighbours – and as a local charity, it positively and directly affects the Barrie community.

Rotaract Barrie

Rotary is known for its reputation as a community leader.  Charity events, especially interactive ones like the volleyball tournament in Barrie, are an excellent way to bring communities together, to celebrate, and to engage with one another.  Rotary has always been at the forefront at bringing fundraising and charity work to the local level; once again, Rotaract has combined a meaningful cause with fun, and community betterment. Continental Currency Exchange couldn’t be more proud to support their great work in Barrie and across Canada.

So if you’re in the Barrie area this Saturday, what could be better than coming out to support a great cause…and maybe knock down a few spikes while you’re at it!
